Langlands & Bell's over thirty-year long artistic collaboration has resulted in award-winning work, which explores the influence that architecture and coded systems have on people and on society. They bring a refined design sensibility to their diverse body of work, including architectural diagrams, furniture, sculpture, video, interactive digital technology, wristwatches, and even a pedestrian bridge at Paddington Basin, London. Their work is included in the permanent collections of numerous museums around the world.
In this interview, Langlands and Bell trace the beginnings of their career in London, discuss their experience as war artists in Afghanistan in 2002, which led to their Turner Prize nomination, and reveal their plans for the future.  |

Berlin-based artist Reynold Reynolds' films delve deep into the most essential elements of human existence, focusing on issues of time and space and the complicated negotiations between human beings and their environments. Reynolds is the recipient of numerous awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship, support from the German Kunstfonds and Award 09 at the Transmediale Berlin, Germany.
In this interview, Reynolds speaks about the technical and conceptual aspects of his film making process, the differences between the New York and Berlin art scenes, and the inherent challenges in having a career as an artist. |
Clemens Krauss' paint-saturated canvases, latex skin sculptures and performance pieces examine the distinctions between private and public space and the tension between our interior lives and our constructed exterior selves. Krauss' works are in the permanent collections of museums in Berlin, Paris, and Sao Paulo, among others.

Lorraine Shemesh's contemporary figurative paintings have been exhibited in museums throughout the USA and Europe. Her works balance abstract and representational elements, exploring interactions between the human form and various highly concentrated environments.
In this interview Shemesh discusses significant points in the development of her career, the methods employed in her studio practice, and speaks about the benefits of working with the legendary New York art dealer Allan Stone.

Erika Blumenfeld investigates and documents light and the natural world, resulting in striking images that capture rarely-seen natural phenomena. In 2008, she was a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship Award which enabled her to travel to Antarctica and work with the South African National Antarctic Program as their artist in residence. In 2010, she traveled to the Gulf Coast to document the effects of the BP oil spill. Her works are in the permanent collections of several museums in the United States.
In this interview, Blumenfeld discusses her unique methods for documenting light, making art in scientific environments, and her experiences photographing Antarctica for The Polar Project. |
